Aware by LELAND

BrettMcLaughlin-Leland-620

The first single off of the fresh new artist LELAND’s EP, “AWARE” has such a delicate happy feeling. It reminds me so much of the first time I heard “Electric Feel” by MGMT, which was like I was hit with a lust for life and blissful joy. “Aware” makes me want to drive down PCH with the windows down on a beautiful sunny day.  His sound is very nostalgic; like a mixture between 80’s pop and new age indie. Like M83 and MGMT and INXS had a musical baby that just sprung out of the womb and blessed us with its creation. This song is super catchy, I guarantee it will get stuck in your head. New Music from Farralone, N3twork and Brianna Loren on Heartfelt Sounds

Indie dance label Heartfelt Sounds has some bangers in store for us in 2016, kicking off the year with their Spring release of “I Love U So” by resident producer Farralone (fare-alone). Based out of Los Angeles, this song has high-octane energy fueled by its electronic components of 80’s synth, dirty bass and French house. The original track takes you back a few decades while simultaneously propelling you into the future.
Farralone has teamed up with fellow LA producer N3twork and vocalist Brianna Loren on their innovative tropical remix to the song. This alternative version features some heavy future bass sounds, chopped pop vocals and a drop sure to get your body moving. “I Love U So” is Heartfelt Sound’s first announced taste of ear candy you can expect to savor in 2016. Make sure to keep your ears peeled and mouth watering these upcoming months for more!

Feb.20th Haywyre @ the El Rey Theatre

Last night was nothing short of mind blowing. My good friend Amanda (www.bouncykitty.wordpress.com) gave me two tickets to see electronic genius Haywyre at the El Rey Theatre. I had no idea who he was nor had ever heard of his music until the day before the show. Of course, I will never pass up live music regardless of my prior knowledge of the artist and for good reason! This guy was insane!

The night unfolded perfectly; I got 3 other of my friends to join me and we ran into another 4-pack of our crew upon arriving. NONE of us, except for one, had heard of Haywyre and had NO IDEA what to expect. Once he came on, we were all speechless. First off, this guy is a classically trained musician. He had a setup of a large midi controler, a synth pad and a few other controls that I couldn’t quite see. All the crazy sounds coming out of the speakers he was creating LIVE. The atmosphere was pulsing with energy and the crowd was eating up his set.

His sound is renovating as a blend of genres. There is a powerful mix of funky electronic music with trance elements and 80’s synths. Some of his music had super bass-y hip hop beats that just made you want to get down! He sounds like a combination of old Daft Punk, Justice, Chromeo and Flume. Just brilliant!

While he was frying our brains with his piano skills, the visuals on the monitor kept the trippy vibe flowing. There were flashes of artwork from his album, bold letters spelling out HAYWYRE in cool font and a birds-eye-view of him playing on the midi so you could see just how involved he was in the live feel of the show. I talked to just about a dozen strangers and they all concluded that this guy was a face-melter. Most of the audience, just like me and my friends, had just been exposed to Haywyre and didn’t know what to expect. All of us were on the same page: Haywyre delivered an encompassing energy and talented performance that we would all be stoked to see again! Brava!!
